Nevada is a city in Collin County, Texas. Its population was 822 at the 2010 census and 1,314 in 2020.

Nevada's septic permits also go through Collin County Development Services in McKinney (4690 Community Ave., Suite 200, phone 972-548-5585), which retains construction plans after its review and will not release a permit that hasn't been picked up within a year of application.

The first settlement in the area was McMinn Chapel, founded by John McMinn in the 1840s and populated mostly by his own family and friends. In 1861 Granville Stinebaugh bought a quarter-section four miles south, started the town on his farm, and named it for the Nevada Territory he had passed through on his way to California; the town later became a stop on the St. Louis Southwestern Railway and incorporated in 1889. Nevada covers about 2.4 square miles at an elevation of roughly 623 feet, in the 75173 ZIP code.
